Vita Morsque: A Castorice Zine is a digital fanzine featuring Castorice, our shy and gentle mortician of Okhema turned demigod of Death. The fanzine will feature art, fics, poems, and merchandise dedicated to our beloved Cas!ꕥ WILL OTHER CHARACTERS BE FEATURED IN THIS ZINE?
Other characters can absolutely be featured. After all, we would love to explore Castorice's numerous aspects, including those of her relationships! However, only platonic relationships will be featured in the main zine, and Castorice should remain the primary focus of each piece. This should also be the case in Psykhē, our side zine for romantic relationships.ꕥ WHAT IS Psykhē?
Psykhē will be a SFW side zine featuring Castorice's various romantic relationships. Contributors will be able to apply to both zines at once.ꕥ WHAT SHIPS WILL BE ALLOWED IN Psykhē?
All ships involving Castorice will be allowed, as long as they have some canonical basis! However, ships that are intended as crackships will not be accepted for the zine.ꕥ WILL SHIPPING BE ALLOWED ON THE MAIN ZINE?
No, the main zine will only feature platonic relationships even if other characters are present.ꕥ WILL THERE BE GUEST CONTRIBUTORS?
Absolutely! While submitting the interest check, please let us know which of your favourite artists and writers you would like to see.ꕥ WILL AU CONTENT BE ALLOWED IN THE MAIN/SIDE ZINE?
While we are open to the idea of both canon and AU content, we will let the interest check determine whether and how much AU content will be included in the zine!ꕥ HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO APPLY?
We will only be accepting contributors who are 18 or older!ꕥ WILL THE ZINE BE FOR PROFIT?
Whether the zine will be for-profit, charity, or free will be determined by our interest check.ꕥ DO I NEED ANY PREVIOUS ZINE EXPERINCE?
No, we will not require any previous zine experience. We will be judging your applications solely based on the quality of your pieces.ꕥ HOW MANY CONTRIBUTORS WILL BE ACCEPTED?
As a base guideline, we are aiming to accept 10 writers, 5 poets, 30 artists, and 5 merch artists. However, specific numbers may be subject to change based on the interest check and applicant pool.ꕥ WHAT WILL CONTRIBUTORS BE REQUIRED TO CREATE?
The final wordcount for fics will be 1k-3k words, while the final wordcount for poems will be 100-500 words. Page art should be fully rendered with a digital background. Spot art and merch art will vary, but everything should be rendered and complete.ꕥ IS THE USAGE OF AI ALLOWED?
Usage of AI is strictly forbidden for this zine.ꕥ CAN I APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE ROLE?
Yes, you are welcome to! However, you will only be accepted for one role.ꕥ AM I ALLOWED TO SHARE WIPS OF MY PIECE?
Sharing your WIPs outside of the server is strictly prohibited. There will be a designated period for contributor previews during pre-orders, during which a preview of your complete piece will be featured on our social media accounts. Outside of this, WIPs are to be kept completely private unless approved by the mods.ꕥ WILL OUTSIDE CONTENT AND BEHAVIOUR AFFECT MY ACCEPTANCE?
Yes. Any form of hate speech, bullying or harassment found on your account will immediately disqualify you from being accepted in this zine. If you are found to be engaging in such behaviour during the zine, you will be immediately removed from the project. We have zero tolerance for such behaviour.ꕥ HOW WILL CONTRIBUTORS BE COMPENSATED?
All contributors will be compensated with the full digital zine bundle. If the zine is for-profit, any remaining profits will be split amongst the mod team and contributors.

ꕥ GUIDELINES & EXPECTATIONS ꕥ

ꕥ Applicants will be asked to submit a curated portfolio of their best works. Please ensure your portfolio is accessible and easy to navigate. A Google Drive folder is strongly preferred, but other portfolio platforms (ex: Carrd) are also accepted. If using Google Drive, please ensure link sharing is set to "Anyone can view".ꕥ The pieces in your portfolio should be finished and polished, and they should showcase the style and quality you intend to create for your contribution to the zine.ꕥ All portfolio pieces should be SFW. Other sensitive content such as gore and violence should be appropriately warned for in the provided field in the application form.ꕥ All accepted applicants will be expected to have a Discord account, communicate openly with mods, meet deadlines in a timely manner, and comply with zine rules.ꕥ PAGE ARTISTS• Page artists will be asked to submit 3 samples and a portfolio containing 5-15 of their best works. Works submitted as samples can also be included in the portfolio.• At least one sample must have an illustrated background (not a solid colour or pattern). Complete illustrations with fully rendered backgrounds are highly recommended in general.• Works involving Honkai: Star Rail and Castorice are recommended but not mandatory.• Accepted page artists will be expected to create at least one full-colour page illustration, spread illustration, or comic.ꕥ MERCH ARTISTS• Merch artists will be asked to submit 3 samples and a portfolio containing 5-15 of their best works. Works submitted as samples can also be included in the portfolio.• Artworks designed for merch are recommended, but not required. Samples of works fitting the items you are interested in creating (ex: chibi, graphics) are highly recommended.• Works involving Honkai: Star Rail and Castorice are recommended but not mandatory.• Accepted merch artists will be expected to create at least one digital merch item. If more than one of your pitches is approved by the mods, you may be asked to create two pieces of merch.ꕥ FIC WRITERS• Fic writers will be asked to submit a portfolio containing 2-3 samples of their best writing.• At least one of your submitted samples should be a complete, standalone fic between 1k-3k words. For the other samples, excerpts from longer works or series are accepted.• No single sample should exceed 5k words.• Works involving characters from other fandoms are allowed. However, at least one fic must contain characters from Honkai: Star Rail. Fics involving Castorice are highly recommended.• Accepted fic writers will be expected to create at least one complete, standalone fic with a wordcount of 1k-3k.ꕥ POETRY WRITERS• Poetry writers will be asked to submit a portfolio containing 3-5 samples of their best poetry.• At least one of your submitted samples should be a complete, standalone poem between 100-500 words. For the other samples, excerpts from longer poems or series are accepted.• No single poem should exceed 1k words.• Works involving characters from other fandoms or no fandom at all are allowed. However, at least one poem must contain characters from Honkai: Star Rail. Poems involving Castorice are highly recommended.• Accepted poetry writers will be expected to create at least one complete, standalone poem with a wordcount of 100-500 words.
